PBIS School-Wide Expectations
Welcome to Green Primary School!
The Expectations- Be Safe, Be Kind, Be Responsible
PBIS at Green Primary School: Teaching Positive Behaviors School-Wide
We are excited to share that the three behavior expectations – Be Safe, Be Kind, and Be Responsible – have been adopted by all grade levels, Pre-K through 12! Our entire staff has been trained in Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS). PBIS is a proactive approach schools use to improve school safety and promote positive behavior in all areas of the building.
At Green Primary, we’re helping students understand exactly what these expectations look like throughout their day. As you walk through our building and classrooms, you’ll notice visual reminders that reinforce these behaviors and help students remember what’s expected.
The Acknowledgement System: "Pom Poms for Positive Behavior"
Students are recognized for following our expectations by earning color-coded pom poms:
-
🟡 Yellow pom – for being Safe
-
🩷 Pink pom – for being Kind
-
🟢 Green pom – for being Responsible
Students can earn poms in all school settings – classrooms, hallways, playground, cafeteria, etc.
Each classroom has a bucket they work to fill with poms. Once full, the class earns a fun reward like pajama day, extra recess, or a special classroom activity.
After that, they get the exciting opportunity to pour their bucket into our large, school-wide bucket during morning announcements!
When the building bucket is full, the whole school earns a building-wide celebration—like a dance party on the playground! The students absolutely love earning poms and celebrating their positive choices together.
Bulldog Strong Club & Social Emotional Learning
We want all students to know and understand what our expectations mean. That’s why every classroom sets aside time to teach, review, and practice these behaviors regularly.
In addition to PBIS, we’re also using a Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum called Strong Start. This curriculum helps students learn to identify their feelings and develop important skills like problem-solving, empathy, and emotional regulation.
You will receive regular emails with tips and resources from the Strong Start curriculum that you can use at home to support your child.
We’re so proud of how our students are showing Bulldog Strong behavior already this year! Thank you for partnering with us to support their growth and success.
